Comparison

StackViewer vs TradesViz

Two tools that look similar on a pricing page and do quite different jobs. Here is the honest split — including where TradesViz is the better choice.

The one-paragraph verdict

Choose TradesViz if you trade actively — day trading, swing trading or options — and want the deepest analytical surface on the market: 600+ statistics, replay simulators, options flow, backtesting and an AI Coach that ranks what to fix next. Its analytics depth and import flexibility are hard to match.

Choose StackViewer if you hold positions for months rather than minutes, run 2–4 brokers, and want to know whether your decisions were any good — not just what your balance is.

If you searched for a TradesViz alternative, you are probably in one of two camps. Either you tried TradesViz, found it powerful but built for a trading style faster than yours, and want something calmer — or you are shopping journals and want to know how the two genuinely differ before you commit. This page is written for both. We verified TradesViz's features and pricing against their live site on 17 September 2026, and we have deliberately included the rows where they win.

The short version: TradesViz is an analytics-heavy day-trade journal with an enormous chart count and unusually flexible imports. StackViewer is a portfolio tracker and trading journal for months-to-years investors, where the behavioural layer is interpreted — graded, cohorted and explained — rather than simply plotted. They overlap on the word "journal" and diverge on almost everything else.

Who each tool is actually for

Choose TradesViz if…

  • You take dozens or hundreds of trades a month and need per-trade MFE/MAE, R-value and exit efficiency on every fill.
  • You trade options or futures and want simulators, options flow, seasonality and backtesting in one place.
  • You want the widest possible analytical surface — 600+ stats and an AI Coach that ranks what to work on next.

Choose StackViewer if…

  • You hold across 2–4 brokers and have never had one true return number.
  • You suspect your exits are costing you more than your picks are earning.
  • You set rules for yourself and want to see, in numbers, how often you break them.

Where TradesViz is the better tool

For an active trader, TradesViz is straightforwardly ahead, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. Its analytical surface is enormous — 600+ statistics and charts against our focused 15+ risk metrics — and if your edge lives in the fine grain of entries, exits and per-trade R-value, that depth matters. Its import flexibility is broader too: TradesViz advertises 250+ supported brokers and platforms with 70+ auto-sync connections, plus manual trade adding across stocks, options, futures, forex, crypto and CFDs, where StackViewer connects to 31 brokers and deliberately excludes custom and non-broker assets from analytics. TradesViz also ships a native iOS and Android app, real-time charting and a live stock screener, options flow data, multi-asset simulators and backtesting, and export/custom-report tooling that helps at tax time — none of which StackViewer offers. And StackViewer is explicitly not real-time: values refresh roughly every 30 minutes across three daily syncs, which is fine for a long-term investor and useless for a scalper. If you are a day trader, or you live in options and futures, stop reading and use TradesViz.

The real difference

The gap is not feature count, it is time horizon and interpretation. TradesViz measures a fast trading process brilliantly: it plots what happened across hundreds of trades and lets you slice it every way imaginable. StackViewer is built for someone whose "trades" are decisions held for months or years across several brokers, where the important questions are different: what is my true blended return once every account and currency is combined; is this position beating the S&P 500 or just riding it; did I sell too early and leave money on the table. Crucially, StackViewer's behavioural layer is interpreted rather than merely plotted. When you log a position you tag the reason, your conviction and the emotion behind it, and StackViewer grades entries and exits, estimates opportunity cost, and groups your closed positions into exit-trigger cohorts so you can see — in numbers — whether fear or a broken rule is quietly costing you. TradesViz gives you the chart; StackViewer tells you what the chart means for the way you invest. If you want to work out your true return across multiple brokers and then understand the decisions behind it, that is the job StackViewer is designed for.

Switching from TradesViz

There is no one-click migration, and you do not need one. StackViewer does not import a TradesViz export — instead it connects to your brokers directly through read-only OAuth (via SnapTrade) and rebuilds your holdings and transaction history from the source, so your positions, cost basis and blended return appear without you touching a spreadsheet. What does not carry over is your manual context: the notes, tags and mistake labels you built in TradesViz will need to be re-entered, because StackViewer's journalling model — reason, conviction and emotion, applied per position — is structured differently and is meant to be filled in going forward, not backfilled. Many people do not switch at all: if you day trade in one account and invest long-term in others, it is perfectly reasonable to keep TradesViz for the active book and add StackViewer for the buy-and-hold side. The honest test is your holding period. Minutes-to-days, stay with TradesViz. Months-to-years across a few brokers, look at the wider field of TradesViz alternatives and give StackViewer a look.

Frequently asked

Is StackViewer a TradesViz alternative?
Only for one kind of user. TradesViz is a deep day-trading and options journal built around 600+ statistics, simulators and backtesting. StackViewer is a portfolio tracker and journal for people who hold positions for months to years across two to four brokers. If you day trade, TradesViz is almost certainly the better fit. If you are a longer-horizon investor who wants true blended return and a read on your own decision-making, StackViewer is the alternative worth trying.
Can I move my data from TradesViz to StackViewer?
There is no direct importer. StackViewer connects to your brokers directly through read-only OAuth (via SnapTrade) and rebuilds your holdings and transaction history from the source, so you do not need to export anything from TradesViz. Manual trade notes and tags in TradesViz would need to be re-entered, as StackViewer's journalling model (reason, conviction and emotion tags) is structured differently.
Which is cheaper?
Both have a genuine free forever plan with no card required. On paid tiers, TradesViz's pricing is in euros, not dollars: Pro is around €17.99/mo (about €13.49/mo billed annually) and Platinum around €25.99/mo (about €19.46/mo billed annually), as of 17 September 2026. StackViewer's paid plan is comparable; the real question is fit, not headline price, because the two tools solve different problems.
