Comparison

StackViewer vs Kubera

Two tools that look similar on a pricing page and do quite different jobs. Here is the honest split — including where Kubera is the better choice.

The one-paragraph verdict

Choose Kubera if you want one honest net-worth number that includes everything you own — bank accounts, brokerages, crypto wallets, real estate, vehicles, domains and collectibles — in a single dashboard, and you are happy to pay $250/year for it. For the whole-balance-sheet job, Kubera is genuinely the better tool and this page will not pretend otherwise.

Choose StackViewer if you hold positions for months rather than minutes, run 2–4 brokers, and want to know whether your decisions were any good — not just what your balance is.

If you have landed here searching for a Kubera alternative or a better net worth tracker, the most useful thing we can do is tell you quickly whether StackViewer is the wrong tool for you. Kubera and StackViewer get mentioned in the same breath because both connect to your accounts and show you charts over time. But they answer different questions. Kubera answers “what am I worth, all in?” StackViewer answers “were the buys and sells I made actually any good?” Those are not the same question, and most people only really care about one of them.

Kubera is a net-worth aggregator. It is built for people whose wealth is scattered across asset classes — a couple of brokerages, some crypto on two exchanges, a house, a car, maybe a domain portfolio or some private equity — who want it all reconciled into one number that updates itself. StackViewer is narrower and deeper: it is a portfolio tracker and trading journal for the investing slice of your life, aimed at buy-and-hold and swing investors who run more than one broker and have never had a single, correct return figure across all of them. Below is the side-by-side, with the rows Kubera wins marked clearly.

Who each tool is actually for

Choose Kubera if…

  • Your wealth is spread across asset classes — brokerages plus a house, a car, crypto wallets, precious metals or a domain portfolio — and you want them all in one net-worth number.
  • You are doing estate or succession planning and want a beneficiary who can access a full, current balance sheet if something happens to you.
  • You care about IRR against an index far more than about Sharpe ratios, drawdown, or grading how well you timed a single trade.

Choose StackViewer if…

  • You hold across 2–4 brokers and have never had one true return number.
  • You suspect your exits are costing you more than your picks are earning.
  • You set rules for yourself and want to see, in numbers, how often you break them.

Where Kubera is the better tool

This is the part we want to be loud about, because it is the whole reason this page exists. If your goal is a single, trustworthy net-worth figure, Kubera beats StackViewer outright and it is not close. Kubera connects to 20,000+ banks and fintechs worldwide through four aggregators, pulls the value of your property from a Zillow URL, estimates your car from its VIN, prices your gold and silver at spot, values your internet domains, and tracks DeFi and NFTs on-chain — then folds all of it, plus anything you type in by hand, into one number that updates over time. StackViewer does none of that. We connect to brokers only, and we deliberately exclude custom and non-broker assets from our analytics, because a Sharpe ratio or an opportunity-cost calculation that includes your house is meaningless. Kubera also does things we simply do not: beneficiary and estate-planning handover, whole-net-worth sharing with an advisor or CPA, AI import from a PDF or screenshot, and net-worth projection with its Fast Forward feature. If any of those sentences described what you came for, close this tab and go use Kubera. Sending you there is cheaper for us than signing you up and watching you churn in a month when you realise we never tracked your house.

The real difference

The cleanest way to think about it: Kubera measures your wealth; StackViewer measures your skill. Kubera is a balance sheet — a photograph of everything you own, as complete and current as it can make it, so you always know your number. It is agnostic about how you got there; a house that appreciated and a stock you nailed both just show up as bigger numbers. StackViewer starts from the opposite end. It ignores the assets you cannot act on and zooms in on the ones you can, then asks harder questions of them: was that exit early or late against where the price went afterwards? Did the positions you tagged “high conviction” actually outperform the ones you bought on a whim? How often do you sell in fear and buy back higher? Which cognitive bias keeps showing up in your losing trades? That is why we run 15+ risk metrics, a trading journal with reason, conviction and emotion tags, and a behavioural layer that grades entries and exits and measures opportunity cost. Kubera has no reason to build any of that, because knowing your net worth and improving your decisions are different jobs. Pick the tool that matches the job you actually have.

Switching from Kubera

There is no data import from Kubera, and for most people there does not need to be. Because StackViewer connects to your brokers directly through read-only OAuth (via SnapTrade), your holdings and full transaction history are pulled straight from the source in a few minutes — you are not re-keying or migrating anything. The honest caveat: the assets you added to Kubera by hand — your home, your car, collectibles, private equity, a domain portfolio — have no home in StackViewer, by design, so those will not come across. Many people do not switch at all: they keep Kubera for the whole-net-worth picture and add StackViewer alongside it for the investing slice, connecting the two or three brokers they actively trade. If you only ever wanted the investment analytics and never used Kubera's property and vehicle tracking, then StackViewer plus its free-forever plan will likely replace it for you at a lower cost. Frequently asked

Is StackViewer a Kubera alternative?
Only partly, and we would rather be honest about it. Kubera is a net-worth aggregator built to give you one number across banks, brokerages, crypto, real estate, cars and domains. StackViewer is a portfolio tracker and trading journal for the investing part of that picture. If what you want is a single net-worth figure that includes your house and your car, Kubera is the better fit and you should use it. If you want to understand how good your investment decisions actually were, that is what StackViewer does. See how to calculate your true return across brokers for the method we build on.
Can I move my data from Kubera to StackViewer?
There is no direct import. StackViewer connects to your brokers directly through read-only OAuth via SnapTrade (31 brokers), so your holdings and transaction history are pulled straight from the source rather than migrated from Kubera. Manually-entered assets in Kubera such as property, vehicles and collectibles have no equivalent in StackViewer because we deliberately exclude non-broker assets from analytics.
Which is cheaper?
StackViewer has a free-forever plan with no card required, and paid plans below Kubera's price. Kubera has no permanent free tier: it runs a free 14-day trial and then costs $250/year for its Essentials plan (as of 17 September 2026). If price is the deciding factor and you only need investment analytics, StackViewer is cheaper. If you need Kubera's whole-net-worth aggregation, the two are not really substitutes on price.
