Comparison

StackViewer vs getquin

Two tools that look similar on a pricing page and do quite different jobs. Here is the honest split — including the one gap that will decide it for most German investors.

The one-paragraph verdict

Choose getquin if your accounts are with German or wider European neo-brokers — especially Trade Republic and Scalable Capital, which getquin connects and StackViewer does not — or if you want a free, deep tracker with a social feed and a community that comments on your portfolio.

Choose StackViewer if you hold positions for months rather than minutes, run 2–4 brokers that StackViewer supports, and want to know whether your decisions were any good — not just what your balance is.

Most people who search “getquin alternative” are in one of two camps. Either getquin already tracks your portfolio and you want sharper analysis of the choices you made — when to buy, when to sell, whether you keep breaking your own rules — or you have heard of getquin, you invest through a German neo-broker, and you are checking whether anything does the job better. This page is written to be useful to both, and it is written mostly for readers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, because that is where getquin is strongest and where the honest answer matters most.

So we will put the hardest truth up front rather than bury it: if your brokers are Trade Republic or Scalable Capital, StackViewer cannot connect them today, and getquin can. No amount of better risk metrics changes that. The rest of this comparison assumes you have read that sentence and are still curious about what StackViewer does that getquin does not.

WHO EACH TOOL IS BUILT FOR how long you hold → minutes weeksyears depth of decision analysis → balance only graded decisions getquin tracking + community StackViewer months-to-years, decisions graded
Neither position is better in the abstract — they are different jobs. The question is only which quadrant you are actually in, and the honest answer is often not this one.

Who each tool is actually for

Choose getquin if…

  • You invest through Trade Republic, Scalable Capital or another DACH/European broker StackViewer does not support.
  • You want a free, broad net-worth view that includes property, crypto and manually valued assets, plus a social feed to compare notes with other investors.
  • You value near-real-time prices, an AI assistant that talks about your holdings, and native iOS/Android apps.

Choose StackViewer if…

  • You hold across 2–4 supported brokers and have never had one true return number.
  • You suspect your exits are costing you more than your picks are earning.
  • You set rules for yourself and want to see, in numbers, how often you break them.

Where getquin is the better tool

For a large share of the people reading this, getquin is simply the right answer, and pretending otherwise would waste your time. The decisive factor is coverage: getquin advertises more than 2,000 bank and broker connections and directly links Trade Republic and Scalable Capital, the two most popular German neo-brokers. StackViewer connects 31 brokers via SnapTrade, and neither of those is on the list. If your money lives there, getquin can build your portfolio and StackViewer cannot — full stop. getquin also wins on breadth in ways that matter day to day: a genuinely capable free tier, a social feed where you can share a portfolio and get feedback from a community of over half a million users, native mobile apps, near-real-time pricing, an AI assistant that answers questions about your actual holdings, and the ability to fold in real estate, crypto and other alternative assets for a full net-worth picture. Its paid Premium (€89.99/year) and Wealth (€149.99/year) tiers add deeper dividend forecasts, benchmark comparisons and retirement planning. None of that is something StackViewer tries to match. If your goal is a broad, low-cost, mobile wealth tracker with a community around it, getquin is the stronger product and you should use it.

The real difference

StackViewer is not trying to be a broader getquin. It is a portfolio tracker and a trading journal built around one question getquin does not ask: were your decisions any good? getquin tells you what happened — your value, your allocation, your return. StackViewer adds why. When you open or close a position you can tag the reason you acted, how convinced you were, and what you were feeling, and over time StackViewer turns those tags into patterns: the setups where your conviction was justified, the emotions that precede your worst exits, the rules you keep breaking. It grades entries and exits, estimates the opportunity cost of selling too early, and reports 15+ risk metrics — Sharpe, Sortino, Alpha, Beta, Max Drawdown, VaR — against ten benchmarks. That is a tool for a months-to-years investor running a handful of brokers who wants to become measurably better, not just informed. getquin is the wider dashboard; StackViewer is the mirror. They can even coexist — getquin for the accounts StackViewer cannot reach, StackViewer for the decision analysis getquin does not do.

Switching from getquin

There is no file you export from getquin and load into StackViewer, and you probably would not want one — StackViewer rebuilds your holdings from the broker directly, so the numbers come from the source rather than from a second-hand copy. To move over, you connect each supported broker through read-only OAuth via SnapTrade; StackViewer pulls positions and history and starts computing metrics. Be honest with yourself about coverage first: if your main accounts are Trade Republic or Scalable Capital, StackViewer has nothing to connect them to yet, so the sensible move is to keep getquin for those and add StackViewer only for the brokers it supports. StackViewer syncs three times a day with values refreshing roughly every 30 minutes — it is not real-time and is not built for day traders — and it excludes custom or non-broker assets from its analytics, so property and collectibles stay with getquin. For the accounts StackViewer does cover, the reconnection is a few minutes and read-only throughout; it can never place a trade or move money.

Frequently asked

Is StackViewer a getquin alternative?
Partly. Both are multi-broker portfolio trackers, but getquin is a broad wealth platform with a social feed and deep DACH broker coverage — including Trade Republic and Scalable Capital, which StackViewer does not connect. StackViewer is narrower: a tracker plus a decision-focused trading journal with 15+ risk metrics and behavioural analysis. If your accounts are with German neo-brokers, getquin is the practical choice today. If your brokers are among StackViewer's 31 supported and you want to grade your own decisions, StackViewer fits better. See our full getquin alternatives roundup.
Can I move my data from getquin to StackViewer?
There is no direct getquin-to-StackViewer export. StackViewer connects your brokers fresh via read-only OAuth through SnapTrade and rebuilds holdings from the source, so you reconnect the accounts it supports rather than importing a getquin file. Brokers getquin covers but StackViewer does not — notably Trade Republic and Scalable Capital — cannot be brought across automatically.
Which is cheaper?
Both have a free forever tier with no card. On paid plans getquin lists Premium at €89.99/year and Wealth at €149.99/year (getquin.com, as of 1 July 2026). StackViewer's free plan covers the core tracker and journal; paid tiers add broker count and history depth. For a free multi-broker overview the two are comparable — but they solve different problems, so price alone should not decide it.
