In short
StackViewer connects to Zerodha through SnapTrade using read-only OAuth. It imports your NSE/BSE equity and mutual-fund holdings, F&O and intraday positions, transaction history and cash and margin balances — all in INR — then merges them with your other brokers into one portfolio. From there it computes a true time-weighted return and 15+ risk metrics, and analyses the decisions behind the numbers: entry and exit quality, opportunity cost, and the behavioural patterns in how you trade. Connecting Zerodha is free, and StackViewer can never place a trade on your account.
What syncs from Zerodha
Positions
Your equity and mutual-fund holdings held in the linked demat account, plus open F&O and intraday positions, with quantity and average buy price. Symbols map to their NSE/BSE listings and are valued in INR.
Trade history
Executed buys and sells returned by the Kite Connect API, used to reconstruct cost basis and realised gains. History depth is bounded by what Zerodha exposes over the API rather than the full multi-year archive you see inside Console.
Cash & balances
Available funds and margin balances on the account, so your cash drag and buying power are counted in the portfolio total rather than left out.
Dividends
Dividend credits that appear in the account ledger are captured and slotted into your combined dividend calendar across every broker you connect.
What does not come across: live and historical market-data feeds (Zerodha's Personal Kite Connect API is free but explicitly excludes live and historical data, so StackViewer values positions on its own ~30-minute cadence, not tick-by-tick); Console's tax P&L working, turnover reports and Verified P&L links; corporate-action-adjusted XIRR exactly as Console computes it; and any off-market or manually held assets that never touch the Zerodha ledger. Trading is never available — SnapTrade confirms the Zerodha integration cannot place orders.
Sync runs three times a day and position values refresh about every 30 minutes during market hours. StackViewer is not a real-time tool and is not built for day trading — if you scalp Bank Nifty options intraday, Kite itself remains your screen.
What Zerodha's own reporting doesn't show you
Zerodha's stack is genuinely strong: Kite is the incumbent interface most Indian retail investors live in, and Console already offers holdings analytics, dividend tracking, corporate-action-adjusted XIRR back to FY2017 and detailed tax P&L. What it deliberately does not do is look across brokers or judge your behaviour. Console reports what happened inside your Zerodha account; it does not tell you that you consistently exit winners three weeks early, or that your worst drawdowns cluster around a particular emotional tag you set at the time of the trade. That gap — the reasoning behind the return, and the return measured across every account at once — is where StackViewer sits.
StackViewer adds a portfolio-wide risk layer that Console does not surface: Sharpe, Sortino, Alpha, Beta, Max Drawdown and Value at Risk computed over your combined holdings, plus a behavioural journal where you tag each trade with a reason, a conviction level and an emotion. Over a few months that turns into a picture of which convictions actually paid and which feelings cost you money — the part of Indian retail investing that Console's tax-first reporting was never designed to answer. One honest caveat for this market: StackViewer is priced in the same tier for every region, and India is famously price-sensitive, so weigh the subscription against the free Console tooling you already have before you commit.
Also use Upstox?
Zerodha and Upstox are the two accounts Indian investors most often run side by side — many keep Zerodha as the long-term demat and Upstox for a second slice of capital or a cheaper F&O leg, and end up mentally adding two Kite-style dashboards together. Connect both and StackViewer produces a single time-weighted return across the two accounts, a combined diversification score, and one dividend calendar — rather than two apps you mentally add together.
How the combined multi-broker view works →
Is it safe to connect Zerodha?
The connection is read-only OAuth through SnapTrade. You log in on Zerodha's own site and agree to the Zerodha Access user agreement — StackViewer never sees your credentials and never stores them. The token that comes back can read positions and history and nothing else: StackViewer cannot place a trade or move a rupee, and no trading permission is requested at any point. You can revoke access from inside your Zerodha account settings whenever you want.
Data is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.2+ in transit, authentication runs on AWS Cognito with optional TOTP MFA, and you can export everything to CSV or delete your account at any time. SnapTrade is itself SOC 2 Type 2 compliant. Full detail on the security page.
Which other brokers can you connect?
StackViewer supports 31 brokers. If you run more than one account, the broker guides hub shows every supported broker and how the combined view fits together. Search for the others you use:
