In short
StackViewer connects to Interactive Brokers through SnapTrade using a read-only authorisation. It imports your positions, transaction history, multi-currency cash balances and dividends, merges them with your other brokers into one portfolio, and then analyses the decisions behind the numbers — entry and exit quality, opportunity cost, and the patterns in how you trade. It is a portfolio tracker and trading journal for people who hold positions for months to years, not a real-time trading terminal. Connecting Interactive Brokers is free.
What syncs from Interactive Brokers
Positions
Your open holdings across stocks, ETFs, options and other supported instruments, with quantity, average cost and current market value. IBKR reports in your account's base currency, so positions held in USD, EUR, GBP or other currencies are consolidated into one figure.
Trade history
Executed buys and sells with price, quantity, date and commissions, plus corporate actions where IBKR exposes them. History depth depends on what IBKR returns through the API, and the first pull can lag because IBKR ships data to SnapTrade in scheduled daily windows.
Cash & balances
Cash positions per currency for a multi-currency account, so an account funded in several currencies shows each cash leg rather than one blended number. Margin loan balances are read where IBKR reports them.
Dividends
Dividend and interest activity, fed into StackViewer's income view and dividend calendar. On a multi-currency IBKR account, income is captured in the currency it was paid and converted to your base currency for reporting.
What does not come across: real-time tick data (values refresh roughly every 30 minutes, not per-second); futures, forex spot and complex structured products may not map cleanly into StackViewer's equity-and-fund model; open orders that have not executed; and anything IBKR does not expose over the SnapTrade integration. If your account uses instruments StackViewer cannot classify, they will appear as unrecognised holdings rather than silently disappearing.
Sync runs three times a day and position values refresh about every 30 minutes during market hours. Because IBKR delivers account data to SnapTrade in scheduled daily windows, an initial connection can take 24-72 hours to fully populate — longer over weekends and market holidays. StackViewer is not a real-time tool and is not built for day trading.
What Interactive Brokers' own reporting doesn't show you
Interactive Brokers is unusual among brokers in that it already ships a serious reporting product: PortfolioAnalyst. It consolidates your linked IBKR accounts, produces GIPS-verified time-weighted and money-weighted returns, and reports across multiple currencies and asset classes (verified against interactivebrokers.com/en/portfolioanalyst, as of 2026-09-10). If your question is "what was my TWR this year, in my base currency, across every sub-account," PortfolioAnalyst answers it well and StackViewer is not trying to out-report it. It is worth saying that plainly rather than pretending the incumbent does not exist.
The gap StackViewer fills is different. PortfolioAnalyst tells you what your return was; it does not tell you why, or what your own behaviour cost you. A report that already contains a clean TWR still cannot show you that you sold your winners three weeks early on average, that your highest-conviction trades underperformed your throwaway ones, or that every position you opened while tagged "frustrated" lost money. StackViewer sits on top of the same trade data and adds decision-level analysis: reason, conviction and emotion tags on each trade, entry- and exit-timing quality, opportunity cost versus holding, and 15+ risk metrics (Sharpe, Sortino, Alpha, Beta, Max Drawdown, VaR). It also merges IBKR with your other brokers, which PortfolioAnalyst can only do for accounts you link to IBKR — not the Trading 212 or Robinhood account you keep elsewhere. Think of it as the journal and behavioural layer that sits beside IBKR's performance report, not a replacement for it.
Also use Trading 212?
Interactive Brokers users very often run a second, simpler account for their smaller or more casual positions, and Trading 212 is one of the most common pairings — it fills the low-friction, fractional-shares, ISA-and-invest role that IBKR's professional-grade platform is overkill for. Trading 212 connects to StackViewer through SnapTrade using a Trading 212 API key rather than IBKR's redirect flow, but the read-only principle is identical (verified against snaptrade.com/brokerage-integrations, as of 2026-09-10). Connect both and StackViewer produces a single time-weighted return across the two accounts, a combined diversification score, and one dividend calendar — rather than two apps you mentally add together.

Is it safe to connect Interactive Brokers?
The connection is read-only through SnapTrade. You authorise access on Interactive Brokers' own site — StackViewer never sees your credentials and never stores them. The token that comes back can read positions and history and nothing else: StackViewer cannot place a trade or move a dollar, and no trading permission is requested at any point. You can revoke access from inside Interactive Brokers whenever you want, and if the authorisation expires you simply re-consent through the same flow.
Data is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.2+ in transit, authentication runs on AWS Cognito with optional TOTP MFA, and you can export everything to CSV or delete your account at any time.
