eToro portfolio tracker & trading journal

Connect eToro read-only, combine it with every other broker you use, and see what your trading decisions actually cost you — with real stocks, CFDs and copied positions kept clearly separate.

In short

StackViewer connects to eToro through SnapTrade using read-only OAuth. It imports your positions, transaction history and cash balances, merges them with your other brokers into one portfolio, and analyses the decisions behind the numbers — entry and exit quality, opportunity cost, and the patterns in how you trade. Because eToro mixes real invested holdings, leveraged CFD positions and CopyTrader positions in a single account, StackViewer keeps those buckets separate so your risk exposure is not hidden behind one blended figure. Connecting eToro is free, and the eToro connection is read-only by design — SnapTrade does not offer trading on eToro at all.

What syncs from eToro

Positions

Your open eToro positions come across read-only: real invested stock and ETF holdings, plus any CFD and copy-trading positions the account holds. StackViewer tags each so equity you actually own is not lumped in with leveraged or copied exposure. Quantities, average entry price and current market value are imported.

Trade history

The transaction history SnapTrade exposes for eToro is imported and used to reconstruct your realised trades — opens, closes and partial closes — so the journal can score entries and exits rather than only showing a current snapshot.

Cash & balances

Cash and available balances are imported, including uninvested cash sitting in the account. eToro reports balances in USD, its base account currency, which matters if your other brokers report in EUR or GBP (see the currency note below).

Dividends

Dividends paid on real invested equity holdings are captured from the transaction history. Note that CFD positions do not pay real dividends — eToro applies a cash adjustment instead — so those will not appear in your dividend calendar as equity income.

What does not come across: eToro's connection is data-only, so nothing can be traded from StackViewer. Real-time streaming prices are not available (values refresh on a schedule, not tick-by-tick). Copy-trading and CFD positions are imported as balances but StackViewer does not reconstruct the internal trade-by-trade activity inside a copied investor's strategy — it sees the resulting position, not every sub-trade the copied trader made. Historical trade depth depends on what SnapTrade exposes for eToro and may not reach back to your very first trade. Promotional credits, staking rewards and eToro Money wallet activity are outside the investment account scope.

Sync runs three times a day and position values refresh about every 30 minutes during market hours. StackViewer is not a real-time tool and is not built for day trading.

What eToro's own reporting doesn't show you — and the honest bit about CFDs and copy trading

eToro's headline "profit" number blends three fundamentally different things: real stocks and ETFs you actually own, CFDs where you hold a leveraged contract and never own the underlying share, and CopyTrader positions that mirror another investor's allocations. eToro shows you one portfolio value, but those buckets carry completely different risk. A CFD can be leveraged and can be forced closed on a margin call; a real share cannot. A copied position moves whenever the person you copy trades — decisions you did not personally make. Treating all three as "your returns" quietly overstates how much of your performance is your own decision-making and understates your leverage.

StackViewer's job here is to be blunt about that distinction. It flags CFD and copy-trading positions separately from your real invested holdings, so the risk metrics — Beta, Max Drawdown, Value at Risk — are read in the right context and your behavioural tags (reason, conviction, emotion) attach to the trades you actually chose to make. We want to be clear about what we cannot do too: StackViewer reads the position that copy trading produced, not the running internal decisions of the investor you copy, and it does not model CFD leverage as a live margin engine. Getting the real-versus-synthetic split right is the whole point of this page — misrepresenting it would misrepresent your own exposure.

Also use Interactive Brokers?

eToro users who graduate toward lower-cost, long-term investing very often keep a second account at Interactive Brokers — IBKR for the cheap global market access and genuine share ownership, eToro for the social and copy-trading side. The trouble is you then have real IBKR equity in one app and a blended real/CFD/copied balance in another, and no honest single figure for how you are actually doing. Connect both and StackViewer produces a single time-weighted return across the two accounts, a combined diversification score, and one dividend calendar — rather than two apps you mentally add together.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS WHEN YOU CONNECT You click “connect” Your broker's own login page password typed here read token StackViewer reads positions & trades Cannot place trades move money see credentials revoke at your broker, any time, one click The token is issued by your broker and scoped to reading. Trading permission is never requested, so it cannot be granted — by us, or by anyone who compromised our systems.
Your credentials are typed on your broker's own site and never reach StackViewer. What comes back is a read-scoped token — trading permission is never requested, so it cannot be granted.

Is it safe to connect eToro?

The connection is read-only OAuth through SnapTrade. You log in on eToro's own site — StackViewer never sees your credentials and never stores them. The token that comes back can read positions and history and nothing else: StackViewer cannot place a trade or move a euro, and no trading permission is requested at any point. In eToro's case there is nothing to worry about even in principle, because SnapTrade's eToro integration does not support trading at all — it is data-only. You can revoke access from inside eToro whenever you want.

Data is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.2+ in transit, authentication runs on AWS Cognito with optional TOTP MFA, and you can export everything to CSV or delete your account at any time. Full detail on the security page.

Which other brokers can you connect?

Frequently asked

Is it safe to connect eToro to StackViewer?
Yes — read-only OAuth through SnapTrade. StackViewer never sees your eToro credentials and cannot trade or move money. Revoke it from eToro in one click.
Can StackViewer place trades on my eToro account?
No. The token is read-only and trading permission is never requested — and SnapTrade's eToro integration does not support trading at all.
How often does eToro data sync?
Three times a day, with position values refreshed roughly every 30 minutes during market hours.
Is the eToro integration free?
Yes, on the free plan, with no credit card.
What eToro data does StackViewer import?
StackViewer imports your eToro positions, transaction history and cash balances read-only through SnapTrade. Because eToro is a multi-asset broker, StackViewer surfaces real (invested) stock and ETF holdings, and flags CFD and copy-trading positions distinctly so you can see your true exposure rather than a single blended number.
